Reiki
“Life opens up in so many different ways when your energy has been awakened.” ~ P. Desai

Reiki has been a part of people’s lives since ancient times. The healing practice that western cultures know as Reiki was rediscovered in Japan in the late 1800s by Dr. Mikao Usui. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s wisdom” and Ki which means “life energy.” So, Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life energy.”
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a holistic approach for addressing any imbalance which manifests in our bodies. Through laying on of hands, Reiki energizes and realigns the balance of the whole person whether it be for a physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual need.
Reiki works with each individual in the person’s own unique way, gently and always attending to the well-being of the whole person. Because we cannot see energy, Reiki can be difficult to explain, but the results are very real.
Reiki is spiritual in nature. However, it is not a religion. In Reiki, it is believed that the energy comes from the Higher Power, God.
What occurs During a Session?
The client is usually lying on a massage table, but treatments can also be given while the client is seated or standing. The practitioner places hands on or close to a fully clothed client. During a session, questions, concerns, and information about the healing process are shared.
Most sessions last around an hour, depending on the needs of the client. During and after a healing session, a person may feel deeply relaxed, experience relief from pain, feel balanced and have a sense of well-being or overall improvement on a combination of levels.

Reiki promotes healing:
“Medical procedures, accidents, allergies, and injuries have left living scars of pain in my life. Pills, shots, physical therapy eased but didn’t erase all the accumulations. In addition to “traditional” medical solutions I tried alternatives: meditation, chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture, and prayer. A specific problem – two hamstrings tighter than Robin Hood’s strung bow and a right hip socket of molten lava needed a different approach. Reiki cooled the hot hip and loosened both hamstrings when nothing else worked. Reiki can promote healing effectively.”
